Anti-Ragging Committee

Objective

As per the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 and AICTE Regulations No. 37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Bulandshahr has constituted the Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad for the Academic Year 2025–26 in accordance with the The Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Act, 2010 (U.P. Act No. 14 of 2010) and UGC Regulations, 2009.

Functions

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ANTI-RAGGING COMMITTEE

1. Overall Supervision and Monitoring  Oversee implementation of anti-ragging measures throughout the institution.  Ensure strict compliance with UGC and AICTE anti-ragging regulations.  Monitor activities of the Anti-Ragging Squad and Mentoring Cells.  Conduct periodic reviews of complaints and preventive measures.  Submit weekly reports and minutes of meetings to the Director's Office.

2. Preventive Measures  Formulate and implement anti-ragging policies and institutional rules.  Ensure awareness among students, faculty, and staff regarding anti-ragging laws and penalties.  Display anti-ragging posters and notices at prominent locations.  Organize orientation programmes for freshers and parents.

3. Enquiry and Action on Complaints  Take cognizance of all complaints related to ragging.  Conduct prompt, impartial, and confidential enquiries.  Recommend disciplinary and punitive action based on the severity of the offence.

4. Coordination with Anti-Ragging Squad  Work closely with the Anti-Ragging Squad for vigilance activities.  Conduct surprise inspections in hostels, classrooms, laboratories, canteens, and common areas. Review reports submitted by squad members and initiate action where necessary.

5. Compliance Reporting  Submit Online Compliance Reports on the UGC Anti-Ragging Portal.  Maintain records of complaints, investigations, actions taken, and meeting minutes.  Ensure submission of online undertakings/affidavits by students and parents. 6. Legal Compliance Ensure institutional actions conform to:  UGC Regulations, 2009  AICTE Regulations  Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Act, 2010 (U.P. Act No. 14 of 2010)  Supreme Court Directives

7. Student Support and Counselling  Provide counselling support to victims of ragging.  Recommend rehabilitative and corrective measures where required.  Ensure confidentiality and protection of complainants from retaliation.
